Learn haskell functional programming5/31/2023 ![]() When I tried Elm, however, the benefits of pure, functional programming finally clicked. ![]() It was certainly an enlightening experience but I didn't see myself using Haskell in the real world when I was already extremely productive with languages like Ruby. Even printing "hello word" required a lot of up front knowledge about strange, abstract concepts like Monads. Although doing Project Euler projects in Haskell was an interesting experience, it all seemed very academic and it was hard to see how any real software could be built in such a pure language. For what it's worth, I tried to learn Haskell on and off for over a year, but never really "got it" until I tried Elm.
